Lookup Table

Lookup tables within your chart can be very useful to automatically insert a figure for users (eg the rate of SDLT or your firm's charges based on an initial figure such as property purchase price).

To do this, administrator privilege to access Procedure File Maintenance is required.

Note: For information on creating and using Lookup tables in charts, refer to the Procedure File Maintenance manual or the knowledgebase article about creating lookup tables.

When creating a Lookup task, if Access Legal Fusion generates a question for you, the question itself isn't displayed.

It's created as a Dummy Lookup, and therefore no amendments can be made to the answer when that lookup is run.

Lookup Question:

This is ideal if the answer is used in a calculation where amendments aren't required to the original figure, for example, SDLT fees. If amendments are required, for example, a discount is applied to your fees for specific clients, it's important that the question is displayed to amend when the step is run.

In this case, you should create a Money question before the Lookup is set up. You need to create the new question code into the Lookup Question field and leave the Create checkbox unticked. This means the question is displayed so that if necessary, you can amend the answer.
