How to relate the Balance Sheet to Balance Sheet Lines

Nominal accounts maintenance

When configuring a nominal account which is an asset or liability you can assign the entry a Balance Sheet Line Number. This is the category that the nominal will be grouped under within the balance sheet. The available line numbers are defined by the Class of the nominal.

If you want to exclude an entry from being grouped into the balance sheet, select the class of N - Not a Balance Sheet Item.

Codes maintenance

The available balance sheet line numbers are defined by code types relating against the class.
There are four code types relating to the categories of Line numbers:

  • BCA - Balance Sheet Current Assets

  • BFA - Balance Sheet Fixed Assets

  • BCL - Balance Sheet Current Liabilities

  • BLL - Balance Sheet Long Term Liabilities

You can add as many codes to these categories as you wish, however the more you add the larger your balance sheet will be.

πŸ“ŒNote: When adding these codes, ensure that a code such as 999 is available as a miscellaneous group as you may not be able to categorize every nominal account.

The Balance Sheet

When the balance sheet is produced, it will go through each line number category, and find each nominal assigned to that group. The balance for each category is the summary balance of the assigned nominal.
