If image files won’t open or fail to launch from the out-tray, the default viewer may not be configured correctly. 

Go to Settings → Apps → Default apps

Select Paint (or your current image app)

Scroll down to locate the following file types: 

1. Go to Settings → Apps → Default apps 
2. Select Paint (or your current image app) 
3. Scroll down to locate the following file types:

Change each of these to Windows Photo Viewer (This will restore proper functionality when opening image files.)
